Our experience there

Formerly known as Suicide Six, Saskadena Six in South Pomfret is a wonderful piece of American skiing history. It is a smaller, community-focused mountain that is ideal if you want a relaxed, stress-free day on the snow without the chaos of a major resort. The terrain is super manageable, making it one of the absolute best places in the state to teach kids or beginners how to ski. The base lodge is cozy, the staff is ridiculously friendly, and you will rarely wait more than a couple of minutes in line. Because of its smaller size and lower elevation, it does not have the massive vertical drop or endless trail choices of the big resorts, but for an easygoing family day, it is fantastic.

Where to stay

Woodstock makes a scenic base for inns, shops and a ski-and-town weekend.
