Our experience there
If you are an advanced skier who is looking for a more challenging mountain in Vermont, and trying to get away from the usual vibe of a mountain like Stratton or Okemo, go to Magic. Magic has some insanely steep trails off the summit, and very tight and steep glades almost everywhere you look, but there are also some more intermediate-style glades. We would say that the terrain is up there with some of the gnarliest in Vermont. Have a family? Magic will also accommodate you, with green and blue runs that run all the way from the summit to the base. One of the only downsides to Magic is the lack of snowmaking. When skiing Magic, you will often run into thin coverage, or even grass spots early or late in the season. Magic's vibe is one of the best. The people at Magic are up there with some of the nicest. The lodge at Magic and the famous Black Line Tavern are some of the most fun après-ski spots in Vermont. Magic will simply take you back in time.
Where to stay
Londonderry and nearby inns make a quieter base; Manchester offers more dining options.
