Our experience there
In our opinion, Burke Mountain is the ultimate hidden gem tucked away in Vermont's Kingdom. Because it is a bit further off the beaten path than the major highway resorts, it stays blissfully uncrowded with virtually zero lift lines. Burke is famous as the training ground for world-class racers at Burke Mountain Academy, so you know the upper mountain packs some serious pitch. The summit quad drops you right into long, steep carvers, isolated glades like East Bowl, and tight, authentic New England tree runs. The mountain layout is super unique and practical—all the beginner terrain is separated on the lower mountain, while the upper mountain is built for intermediate and advanced riders. The vibe at the base lodge is laid-back, welcoming, and completely unpretentious. The main trade-offs are that snowmaking isn't as massive as the giant corporate spots, and the nightlife scene is pretty quiet, but for pure, uncrowded Vermont skiing with incredible value, Burke is hard to beat.
